Investigation underway after body is pulled from Detroit River

DETROIT – An investigation is underway after an unidentified dead man was pulled from the Detroit River on Sunday.

According to Detroit Police and Fire departments, a man was pulled from the water at approximately 11:20 a.m. by the Detroit Police Harbor Master and the fire department.

The man’s body was found in the Detroit River near Chene Park and the Renaissance Center.

Officials say an autopsy is needed to determine the man’s cause of death.

‘Armed and dangerous’ man barricades himself in Detroit family’s home after chase with police

DETROIT – A man considered to be armed and dangerous is barricaded inside a family’s home on the west side of Detroit after a chase with police.

According to Detroit police Chief James White, officers were pursuing a person of interest at about 6:30 p.m. on Saturday -- officials believe this person may have information about two fatal shootings, a carjacking, and one non-fatal shooting.

Teen charged in fatal Walled Lake hit-and-run now facing child sex crime charges

WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich. – A 19-year-old from Commerce Township, already facing serious charges for a fatal hit-and-run crash, is now also facing accusations of child sex crimes.

Gavin Kassab, 19, was already facing serious jail time for his involvement in a hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a 13-year-old girl -- he is now facing additional charges related to sex crimes involving a child.

Woman fatally shot in Sterling Heights after exchanging gunfire with brother over family business

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – A heated argument between a brother and sister took a fatal turn on Friday as gunfire erupted at a business in Sterling Heights.

The incident took place at a business located on 19 Mile near Mound Road in Sterling Heights on Friday at about 9 a.m.

The sister, identified as a 54-year-old woman, was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival. The brother involved in the incident has been taken into custody while the prosecutor reviews the case.

LANSING, Mich. – The Department of the Attorney General filed a motion on Thursday after uncovering crucial facts pointing to negligence among former owners regarding the 2020 failure of the Edenville Dam.

Detroit judge lowers bond for gas station clerk who locked customers inside during triple shooting

DETROIT – In a controversial court decision, the bond for the gas station clerk who was captured on camera locking customers inside with a gunman has been lowered.

The clerk, 22-year-old Al-Hassan Aiyash, is currently facing serious charges after an irate customer shot three customers, resulting in the death of one of them.

DETROIT – A family of five is recovering in the hospital after their car was hit by a semi truck in Detroit on Thursday.

An investigation is underway after a semi truck lost control and hit a sedan at about 1 p.m. on May 25 on Schaefer Road near the I-96 service drive.

The exact circumstances of what led to the crash are still unclear, but officials have determined that for some reason, a semi truck carrying wood pallets lost control, hit the car, crashed into a fence, and ended up on the I-96
